Go Edit Pages – Page Properties

User Guides

In Go Edit, the Page Properties allow you to customise the details and appearance of each page. Page properties are divided into two main tabs: Settings and Design, providing control over everything from SEO settings to the page’s layout and background.

Settings Tab

The Settings tab enables you to configure essential properties such as the page name, URL, hierarchy, visibility, and SEO-related options.

1. Page Name and URL

  • Page Name: Choose a meaningful title that reflects the page’s content. This name is used in the Control Panel and can be edited at any time.
  • Page URL: Edit the URL of the page to ensure it is SEO-friendly and relevant. Short, descriptive URLs help search engines and users understand the content.

2. Parent Page

  • Parent Page: The parent page is the main page in the hierarchy. Using a parent page can improve your website’s structure and help with SEO. Choose from a drop-down list of all pages or select “No Parent” for standalone pages.

3. Status

  • Status: This feature manages whether the page is live or hidden. The Draft status hides the page, while the Published status makes it publicly available. Draft mode is useful for pages under construction.

4. Visibility

  • Visibility: Go Edit allows you to enable password protection for pages. You can either set a global password for all protected pages or assign a unique password to each page individually.

5. SEO Settings

The SEO Settings block contains features that impact how search engines index and rank your pages:

  • Page Title: This is the title that appears in the browser tab and search engine results. Use a descriptive, keyword-rich title to boost SEO.
  • Page Description: Write a concise description that summarises the page’s content. This text appears in search results, helping users understand the page before clicking.
  • Page Keywords: Add relevant keywords to represent the page’s main topics, aiding search engines in categorising your page.
  • No-Index: If enabled, search engines won’t index the page, meaning it won’t appear in search results.
  • No-Follow: When this is enabled, search engines won’t follow links on the page, although external URLs will remain active.
  • Hide Canonical: This option removes the rel="canonical" tag from the page, preventing it from being referenced as the canonical page.
  • Canonical URL: Set a canonical URL if this page content is available elsewhere to avoid duplicate content penalties.
  • Code Injection: This feature allows you to add custom code snippets in two areas:
    • Header: Insert code into the <head> tag, useful for adding metadata, analytics, or tracking scripts.
    • Footer: Insert code before the closing </body> tag, ideal for adding third-party scripts like live chat.

Design Tab

The Design tab is divided into two blocks: Layout and Background, allowing for full control over the structure and aesthetic of the page.

1. Layout

The layout section controls the header, content, and footer areas of your page. If your page uses the default layout, it will include three sections: header, content, and footer.

  • Sections: Modify your page layout by managing the header and footer sections. The following actions can be performed:
    • Add: Add new headers or footers using the “Add” button. You will need to name the section when prompted.
    • Rename: Rename a section by clicking the “Rename” button and entering a new title.
    • Duplicate: Make a copy of an existing header or footer by selecting the Duplicate button.
    • Remove: Remove a custom header or footer section. Note that default headers/footers cannot be deleted.

2. Background Style

The Background block enables you to modify the overall background of the page. You can adjust colours, images, and other style elements using the following features:

  • Presets: Go Edit provides a list of pre-designed background styles, each with its own unique title. You can create, duplicate, or remove presets, except for the default preset which cannot be erased.
    • Add New Preset: Add a new background style by specifying its title and clicking the Add button.
    • Duplicate/Remove: You can duplicate or remove existing presets using the corresponding buttons.
  • Background Properties: Control the appearance of your background using the following options:
    • Colour: Select a background colour from 25 preset colours or use the colour picker to create custom colours.
    • Background Image: Add or remove background images for your page. You can choose images from your Media Library, and apply them to the background.
    • Size: Adjust the size of the background image using the following options:
      • Original Size: Displays the image at its default resolution.
      • Cover Size: Stretches the image to cover the entire background while maintaining proportions.
      • Contain Size: Stretches the image to fit either the width or height, depending on the aspect ratio.
    • Position: Set the alignment of the background image using the position arrows (left, top, right, etc.).
    • Tile: Choose how the background image is repeated on the page:
      • No Repeat: Displays the image once (default).
      • Repeat: Repeats the image across the entire background.
      • Repeat X: Repeats the image horizontally.
      • Repeat Y: Repeats the image vertically.
    • Fixed Background: When enabled, the background image remains fixed in place, while the content scrolls.
